Many of you may have already heard about the Army of Women organization. If not, here is a little information. It was created by Dr. Susan Love to recruit at least 1million women who want to stop breast cancer. As a member of the army, you agree to be e-mailed about breast cancer studies in need of volunteers. Some may involve only filling out a questionnaire; others may require samples of blood, urine, or saliva. You're never obligated to get involved; you choose the studies in which you want to participate. According to Dr. Love, about 70 - 80% of women who get breast cancer have no known risk factors. Her belief is that "early detection isn't the only answer - we have to prevent it in the first place." You can go to the website for more information and to sign up at www.armyofwomen.org.
