The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

What a delightful book and such an easy read. I like having a little mystery at the beginning of a book, whether it's romance...will they fall in love, or how lives so far apart will eventually intertwine, it keeps you turning the pages. I particularly liked how the author gave such hope and healing for the future to people who had the terrible tragedies of WWII literally enter their homes and hearts. A sweet read.

This Makes Me Happy

What color of make-up do you wear?

Emily takes gymnastics lessons. We've missed a few classes this summer and so last week we went to a make-up class. I was worried that Emi might not participate in a different class where she didn't know the other students, but she was so excited to go to class. She did great and willingly did everything that little gymnasts do. After class, we were walking hand in hand to the car and she asked me, "Mom, when do we get to put on the make-up?" I laughed but also felt bad because I knew then that she had been so excited because she thought she was going to a "make-up" class.

10 Games to Go

We only have 10 games left of our baseball season and what a great season it has been. It may never get better than this. Good times, good times. Scott pitched a winning game last week, went the whole game and threw 103 pitches (ouch!). Doug's team won league and he'll be the starting pitcher in this week's tournament championship game. Thomas is playing for the "Boston Red Sox" with his little league team. In his last game he walked to get on first, stole second, stole third and stole home with a nice slide (only in little league). It's been so fun to have Karin home in the cheering section. All the boys want her there to watch and of course she is the transportation to after game ice cream celebrations. It's so cool to have an older sister. Atta Babe!
