Bah Humbug

OK, seriously folks I know you are all wondering why my neighbor has two cranes in the vacant lot next to his house. Well, Christmas is just around the corner. Really, I'm serious, every year these cranes show up and elves begin stringing lights on ALL of his trees and around his house. These cranes showed up last Friday - that's October 17th - mind you. I've heard that the company charges $100 per tree. So I walked around my yard and counted 55 trees, that $5500 I could spend plus a few more hundred for the house. Can you imagine the stress this puts on my husband? If you can believe it, we have only one electrical outlet on the outside of our home; so Matt has to string all of our lights together and then attach them to extension cords, then climb up on the roof and carry the cords to the back of the house where the outlet is. If he doesn't go through this dangerous ritual then he must endure the holiday mockery of those who drive through our neighborhood and compare our lights with our neighbors. He told me this year - he is going to spray paint a piece of plywood with the words "Bah Humbug" and post it in our front yard. You'll have to drive by in the daylight though to see it.

Maybe he can put the one string of lights around the sign so we can see it at night?

I'm with Ganon. That's pretty funny.

You guys are still decorating for halloween. We took ours down weeks ago, put thanksgiving decorations up, took them down again, and now have Santa and his elves on the roof. I'll probably take them down tomorrow so that I can get all of the red hearts up for Valentines day before the end of the week.

Wow. Talk about pressure. Contrary to Jay's boasting, we're lucky if we get any outside decorations up for christmas. I can't imagine spending that kind of money to light up a house. I'm sure Matt's-all-in-one-socket is much, much more tasteful.
